Historical Facts on Jesus
Jesus was indeed born somewhere between 7-2 B.C.E. and he died anywhere from 30-36 A.D. He was born a Galilean Jew and spoke Aramaic, possibly even Greek and Hebrew too. Although some things about him are debatable, such as his resurrection, the two things that are for sure are that he was baptized by John the Baptist and crucified by Roman Prefect Pontius Pilate. There were other things that proved to be facts; he called disciples, his disciples kept believing after the crucifixion, some of his disciples were persecuted, his activities were confined to Galilee and Judea, and he had a controversy at the temple. Some historians like to dispute over some of these subjects such as the number, names and existence of his disciples. Most believe that he had disciples and their names were Matthew, Luke, James, John, Simon, Peter, Bartholomew,Philip, Andrew, Thomas, James, Simon, Judas and Judas Iscariot(The one who betrayed him). That can get confusing because there are several people who share their name with another. Some believe that he had disciples but their names and numbers are questionable. Others say that there were no disciples at all, but not very many people support that because of Christianity.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historicity_of_Jesus)
